Welcome to the first general dentistry office in California to be designed and built from the ground up for IV Sedation. Opened in March 2006, this state of the art facility was created by Dr. Richard Gagne who visited more than 50 other offices over a three year design period in order to create an innovative, 21st century dental office unlike any other in California. This new office is specifically designed to provide efficient general dentistry services and the utmost in comfort to the sedated patient.

Waiting Room

This room was designed to be very spacious. The previous office had a small waiting room and many patients reported that they felt uncomfortable in it. From the minute patients walk into the new office waiting area, they know that this is the dental office for which they have been looking, to take care of all of their dental needs.

Business Office

The business office was designed to protect patient privacy. There is no wide-open front desk area where private patient communications are overheard in the waiting room. A large glass window blocks sound. In addition, there is a comfortable sitting area where the front desk assistant can privately discuss future treatment recommendations with patients. All written charts and computer records are NOT stored in this open area. Instead, they are housed in a special, highly secured chartroom that is separately locked and monitored by an alarm company. This offers the utmost in security for protected healthcare information.

Treatment Rooms

The treatment room is the heart of any dental office. The two treatment rooms in the office were designed very large to maximize efficiency in treating the sedated patient. While the average dental treatment room is nine feet wide, these newly designed rooms are over fourteen feet wide. This size allows staff to bring in equipment easily and thus reduce treatment time. By reducing treatment time, more procedures can be done in a single visit. In addition to the advantages of moving equipment in and out of the operatories easily, their extra large size also minimizes the claustrophobic feeling some patients feel in the common small treatment rooms.

Each treatment room has two built-in nitrous oxide ports. These devices allow for easy access to the built-in nitrous oxide/oxygen delivery system. Nitrous oxide is the ideal sedative method for patients who need a light form of sedation for short treatment times. For a brochure on our various sedative methods click here.

Sterilization Center

The sterilization center in the newly designed office meets all of the most recent Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines for infection control in the dental office environment. Not all dental offices meet these regulations. This is one of the first offices to be specially built to accommodate the state-of-the-art Hydrim instrument washing system. This type of system is the recommended instrument washing method as outlined in the current CDC guidelines. The design of this sterilization center allows for many of the instruments to be in mobile carts. This system allows for their ease of transport in and out of the treatment rooms. This reduces treatment time and increases efficiency, two extremely important issues in treating the sedated patient.

Laboratory

Modern laboratory facilities are available close to the operatories. With ease of access and multiple pieces of equipment available there is a significant reduction in treatment time. More complex dental procedures such as dental implant surgery and reconstruction require a modern laboratory facility of this type.

Handicaped/Sedated Restroom

The restroom facilities were designed with the sedated patient in mind and are unlike a standard bathroom. Studies have shown that one of the greatest risks for injury to the sedated patient is a slip and fall in the bathroom. Great care was taken in designing the restroom to minimize this risk. The room is very large which allows staff to accompany the patient. There is a urinal for the safety and convenience of sedated male patients. A counter top was included to accommodate purses and other personal items. The floor has a taper to accommodate a floor drain, which allows for maximum cleanliness and safety.
